Dear Friends,

Church this past Sunday evening was great. The leaders had planned the evening program to coincide with my return to work here. They had conducted an Alpha group session earlier this year. The results from that had yielded 3 local folks whose lives were significantly changed by their encounter with Jesus Christ. My session, we call Beta group, is to be a continuation of that Alpha program, featuring Bible study and development. That evening we had 17 people starting this Beta program – which is excellent for such a small village. They are planning for 35 next week because this is their expectation. The session began with singing (in Swedish) and then Bible study (in English with Swedish translation). This was followed by Swedish coffee and goodies (complete with calories). I gave an introduction to the book of Philippians covering an historical background and then a discussion of the first 2 verses. That is such a happy book – who wouldn’t be encouraged by studying it? I am getting more out of it than anyone, just by putting the material together for presentation. Have you considered Philippians 1:6? Paul tells us there that we are “in a process”. I like that because then no one can tell us that he has arrived. We are all being processed. It is God’s process and He is the One Who initiated it within us. It is great to be on His side.

I am back in the Swedish School for teaching foreigners their language. It is slow work but I am getting there. The weather here is quite pleasant – between 32 to 40 degrees. We actually received our first snowfall last week when the temperature dropped to 28 degrees. The rain turned into big, puffy flakes of snow. But they didn’t last through the night and we are now back to sunshine.

Please pray for my purchase of car that can go through the winter here. I need front wheel drive for the snow conditions. I need economy, with gasoline priced at $7.00 per gallon. I need a Toyota Corolla for reliability. I need a heater that works better than the one in the Mercedes station wagon I have borrowed. God knows all things, even where to find a car safe enough for this American to drive in Lapland.

God bless you all richly. It is fun to chat with you all over the many miles between us.

In Christ,
George Wilson
